Arunachal Launches Crime Tracking System

In a major boost the Arunachal Pradesh police, the Arunachal government recently launched Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) Go Live in the State. CCTNS is a mission mode project under National e-Governance Plan of Govt of India.

It will enable the State Police to raise the benchmark of professional efficiency besides catching interstate criminals more quickly.

While inaugurating the project, Home minister Kumar Waii asserted that he would put his all-out efforts to revamp the State Police department and sought full cooperation from the officers to achieve his dream. “I have already sought funds from the Centre for modernization of Police department.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Home Pani Taram, said, “With the launching of CCTNS, functioning of the State Police would be more effective and transparent. It is a major boost to the department to access information on criminals’ background across the country and also facilitates the police personnel in maintaining the crime records digitally.”

“Now criminals cannot escape from police, as all records would be available in every police station in India,” stated Taram.
Dwelling on the advantages of CCTNS, DGP Nithianandam mentioned, “Through this project there would be significant improvement in policing and the criminals would be easily tracked. It will boost security services to easily identify, arms license, driving license and other important documents of the person.”

He further added that through CCTNS, data and records would be digitized and will be uploaded on clouds through particular server encrypted by firewall.

It is to be mentioned here that the MoU was signed between of Arunachal Government and Ministry of Home Affairs and state project management consultant. In 2012 the service level agreement was signed with BSNL.
