Change of ownership of BSNL SIM cards made easy

BSNL mobile customers will have go through mandatory Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification before February 6, 2018, BSNL officials here said.

This is an authentication process to verify the identity and address of the customers. Under the e-KYC authentication process, customers using the mobile numbers registered in another person’s name can link their Aadhaar number with e-KYC facility and this will result in change of ownership and regularisation of the connection in the name of the present user.
Customers have to approach authorised retailers, franchisees or the Customer Service Centres of BSNL. During the linking process, the mobile users will get a one-time password (OTP). Soon after this, they will have to provide the OTP along with Aadhaar number to the staff. After this process, they will be asked to give their thumb impression. By doing so, the Aadhaar data will appear on the screen of BSNL e-KYC App for e-verification.
Customers will have to verify the address displayed on the screen.
After confirmation, the customers will be again asked to give their thumb impression on BSNL e-KYC App for validation with UIDAI.
Confirmation SMS will be sent to the user of the SIM card.
Customers have to respond within three days to complete the registration with the response ``REV YES'' or ``REV NO'' to 53734. If the customer does not respond, it would be presumed as accepted, officials said.
