Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is the fifth-largest  operator in India based on the number of subscribers.   BSNL plans to launch Zero Voice Tariff plans offers lifetime free voice calls which will be available to its 3G/2G mobile customers from January 2017 onwards.

BSNL is planning to offer free voice calls to its customers and also plans to offer packs that are cheaper than that of Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio is a 4G network which means you can only make use of Jio’s services if you have a 4G smartphone. And unlike Jio’s offer that is available for only 4G subscribers, the BSNL plan will be open to 2G and 3G users, which constitute the majority of mobile customers.

BSNL Chairman cum Managing Director Shri. Anupam Shrivastava told – “We are closely observing the market as well as Jio’s performance. We will also come up with lifetime free-voice plans from the new year as part of fresh offerings. We plan to be even lower than the Jio plan, and this could be by Rs 2-4.”

“The idea is to use the home broadband to route outgoing mobile calls through the landline network. We estimate that a large amount of time is spent at home, and so here we can ride on our wire-line operations,” – BSNL CMD added.

BSNL is going to introduce this offer in the states of Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Odisha, Punjab, and UP. Because BSNL is having a huge market in these states.
Jio shook the telecom industry by introducing plans that include free voice calling, free national roaming, and data at fraction of the cost of incumbents. And any such decision by BSNL will further put pressure on Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea to slash tariffs.
