BSNL on a mission; to conduct melas to increase customer base

Aiming to increase customer base, the Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Karimnagar district unit, has decided to conduct mega melas at places across the district and distribute free SIMcards to customers on Wednesday.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Tuesday, DGM (planning) V. Pitchaiah said they have a target of making 5,000 new consumers enrol by providing free SIM cards on the spot during mega melas.
He said during the earlier mega mela, the BSNL Karimnagar district topped in the State with highest distribution of more than 5,000 SIM cards. Explaining their expansion programme, he

said they were planning to provide 3G data signal in all the mandals soon.

Stating that the BSNL had over 1.6 lakh landline phone connections in the district before the advent of cellular phone, he said landline connections have now come down to 20,000 and pre-paid

cellular connections to 3.8 lakh while post-paid connections to 22,000. He said they were taking all measures to bring back the landline telephone consumers to BSNL fold and announced

Experience LL-49 landline plan with monthly rental of only Rs. 49 up to six months.

He said that the BSNL had also announced ULD-470 broadband plan with 2 Mbps speed having additional facilities such as unlimited free calling to any network on all Sundays and from 9 p.m. to

7 a.m. on all other days. He also said they would soon introduce 4G network in Karimnagar district. DGM (finance) V. Rambabu, AGM (admn) M. Narsaiah, AGM (marketing) Ravindranath and
