Digital India a pilot project for BSNL, says CGM Khare

“Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is playing a major role in shaping revolutionary ‘Digital India’ campaign of Central Government to modernise the Telecom sector in the country which helped to provide smooth service to our customers,” stated Peeyush Khare, Chief General Manager of BSNL, Maharashtra Telecom Circle, while talking with media persons at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan on Friday.

Peeyush Khare has taken over as CGM in August this year. Prior to that he was working as Senior General Manager at Indore Telecom District in Madhya Pradesh. He has varied experience in all branches of telecom field such as planning, operation and maintenance of telecom network marketing.
“In the era of competition, BSNL is topping the list of telecom providers in the country with lucrative plans at a cheap rates to its customers. The Revenue earned by Nagpur region during 2014-15 was Rs 133.57 crore which is now increased by 4.2 per cent with Rs 139.18 crore in the year 2015-16,” said Khare.
“We have provided a total of 9,232 landline connections during 2015-16 while 9,771 Broadband and 51,653 mobile connections are our achievements. With this number, BSNL has a total 1.06 lakh landline connections, 40,520 broadband and 2.17 lakh mobile customers in Nagpur Region,” he added.
Khare stated that BSNL is providing free incoming calls to its mobile customers while on roaming across the country. Also it provides unlimited free calling scheme from landline to any phone on all Sunday and also national holidays in addition to free night calling to all networks from 9 pm to 7 am in All India Basis. He also said that BSNL has International Level training Centre at Gaziabad and Jabalpur and many Regional Training Centres. Nagpur also has Regional Training Centre with state-of-the-art infrastructure with Hostel Facility and IIIT Nagpur started its first batch of RTTC in the city.
“A total of Rs 70 crore is invested to replace old cables with Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) at 1,737 km in Nagpur region in which OFC has been already laid as on date about 1.367 km,” Khare informed.
Namratta Tiwari, Sr. General Manager, Nagpur Telecom District, and Pradeep Kumar Maitra, President, Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust, also shared the dais during meet the press.
