BSNL to launch two new schemes to attract customers

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has decided to introduce two new schemes to increase its landline connectivity. R.H. Kai, Deputy General Manager, Bagalkot division, told presspersons that under ‘Plan 49’, new landline connections could be taken by paying Rs. 49 a month for the first six months.
Free calls

Under another scheme, existing and new subscribers would be allowed to make free calls to mobile or landline numbers any where in the country for free on Sundays. “Earlier, subscribers were

offered free unlimited phone calls from their landline numbers between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. every day. This is an extension of that scheme,” he said.

Subscriber base

Mr. Kai, however, admitted that the subscriber base in Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts had reduced by around 2,000 this year.

From next year, BSNL is planning to introduce 4G facility for mobile operators, he added.
